Pulled up a recent weekday morning just about an hour after opening. Was greeted and seated outside by choice to a fresh cleaned table quick. The entire menu was tempting but I tried the Chilaquiles Rojo. They came out cooked well, some crunch to every bite not soft over sauced except where the salsa collected in the middle. And a really nice addition was the grilled slice of Cotija cheese as a garnish. Ready to go back and try some skillets and pancakes and french toast next.

Small lil mom and pop cafe. Ordered a couple burritos. The Baja breakfast and the breakfast combo with bacon ham and avocado. Both were big and delish. Really liked the salsa! The miss that waited on us was super nice. We sat outside. Looks can be deceiving at this place. Don't knock it till you try it!

Nick's Cafe is always a great place for breakfast and the food is delicious. Service is good and enjoyable. Ambiance is diner style counter seating inside, they do have simple patio seating as well. We always sit inside for the experience not to be missed.

Breakfast was so good, it was all I thought about all day! This place was recommended by a Los Angeles City Supervisor to my husband. Seeing where it was and the exterior, I honestly wasn't expecting much. But based on the reviews, we went ahead and gave it a go. They have indoor seating at a bar or you can sit out side under canopies. We chose to sit indoors. I ordered the Chocloate Chip pancakes based upon a review photo I saw. The server asked if I would like it as a combo with eggs and bacon, and I replied yes and she suggested I order the Mini Pan San for light eaters because the pancakes are huge, so I agreed. My husband ordered the California Scramble. Coffee was hot, nothing special. Service was excellent. Loved her personality, warmth, spunk and attentiveness. I can't remember her name, but she said she's been there 15 years. Food arrived rather quickly, so glad I ordered the smaller plate because it was still huge 3 10" pancakes with chocolate chips and chocolate sauce. Looked incredible! The bacon was the tastiest and crispness I have ever had! Eggs were perfectly scrambled. The pancakes tasted amazingly! I thought about them all day! My husband's meal was huge and loaded with veggies and ham. Looked tasty! I am ready to go back! I just wish we lived closer, as we are out in the inland empire.

Bf has had this place on his list for a long time and was happy to finally cross this off his list. We stopped by on a Saturday around lunchtime and the wait was about 30 minutes for indoor seating. The inside seating area is small with only counter seating and outdoor they only have a handful of tables available so wait times could vary. Lucky for us the wait was not too long. For food we ordered the ham and eggs. They also offer a smaller portion for "light eaters" so I could order a smaller portion of ham and eggs. The ham was slightly sweet and overall enjoyable but there parts that were on the tougher side, so be sure to eat together with their red salsa. The hash browns could have been crispier but I'm sure it could be easily fixed by asking next time. Overall this is one of those places you have to try in Los Angeles. The food was good, service was not lacking and there was plenty of street parking nearby.

TL:DR - Breakfast burrito was stuffed, but use the salsa. I had to come to downtown LA early one morning and had a craving for a breakfast burrito. I had never heard of Nick's before, but after seeing the ratings on yelp I decided to try it out. Just South of the Los Angeles State Historic Park, Nick's Cafe is an old school looking diner. There are a couple of tables outside and a full on 50's counter on the inside. Even though it was like 8:15am, the place was packed with blue collar workers and people grabbing food to go. That's a good sign in my book. I ordered the breakfast burrito with sausage, and was surprised when they handed it to me. There was a serious heft to the package and when I finally unwrapped the burrito and took a bite, it was just packed with ingredients. There is a strong taste of potato and bell peppers, which I don't mind, because I love both, but it did lack a little bit of flavor. Fortunately they packed two different salsas for me to use, and those brought the oomph I wanted with my breakfast burrito. By the time I finished the burrito I was stuffed. I wasn't really planning on getting this full before 9am, but here I was ready to go back to sleep. Overall, great breakfast burrito for the price. I would definitely recommend using the salsa as the burrito itself lacks a strong flavor.

The service is excellent here. The food was really good. It's giving OG LA vibes on the outskirts of Downtown LA. Tried the chilaquiles because they looked amazing coming out for other customers, one after the other. So it must be good. It was. You know it's good when Angelenos are the ones dining here, not tourists and social media sheeple. But if they end up like that, more power to them. Tried the green chilaquiles, but going for the red one next time!
